April 10th-

I had the job of Vocabulary enricher and Character Captain.
For the Vocab I had the words Periscope and Belligerently. The meaning of periscope is; an optical instrument for viewing objects that are above the level of direct sight. Belligerently translated into words most people understand is, warlike. Now for my other job of Character Captain was some what hard because I thought I had to do it for some one that no one had mentioned. I then thought that I could Just use George because he had changed from the beginning of the book. He changed by not just treating Lenny like a person he was traveling with to treating him like he was a friend. When he killed Lenny he acted like a Man that had to kill a beloved pet, by hesitating and then somewhat retreating into his conscience after he had done it. That is all I have for the last chapter of the book... yeah.

So this is for a separate book, however I thought this would be a good place to put it seeing as this wiki is already for book reviews.

No one would ever think that Pride and Prejudice, and Twilight would have anything in common. How ever not many people know that Stephenie Meyer bases most of her vampire romance books off of Jane Austen's famous books. Twilight for instance is based on Pride and Prejudice, therefor not only are many of the characters similar but also many of the events are quit alike. Something simple that they have in common is that they are both about two people who almost despise each other at first because of one or both of their social status. For instance, Elizabeth Bennet is repulsed by how Fitzwilliam Darcy fancies himself because he was born into weathly and powerful english family, just as Bella Swan was outraged because Edward Cullen acts as though he is too good for any one in Forks. Edward starts to fall for Bella much in the same way Fitwilliam did with Elizabeth, they both did not care if person they loved was not the same as them, either by upperclass vs. middle/lowerclass or vampire vs. human. Also the way Bella confrunts Edward is in many ways similar to Elizabeth and Fitzwilliam. The charaters are not the only things that are similar, both books are romance with just a hint of witty humor.

Now as similar as the two books are they have many things that set them apart. These things range any where from the text and grammer used to the more realistic approuch taken by Jane Austen and the fantasy twist put on the story by Stephenie Meyers. The text as metioned earlyer is bound to be different, obviously because they were writen about two centuries apart, one in 1796 and the other in 2005. Jane was famous because her writings were revalutionary at the time, not to mention that she was among the few popular female writers at all. Stephenie how ever in one in a long line of vampire romace novels, besides she has many more female writers to be compared to. Witty writing from a women is now very common and exeptable, when in the 19th century it was fround apon, for a lady should hold her tounge and should respect their male company. The humor was also a little different. Jane was more subtle about the placement of the humor and it was very inteligent. Meyer was a little more straight forward, with things like the baseball game.

How ever different the two books are you can not admit that after thinking about it there are definet similarities. Jane Austen was part of Stephenie Meyer's insteration. They both have books that most people love to read, not just by women but also by men, teen and adult. So next time you or some one else reads one of the two books just remeber how closly related they are, and try for yourself to see the insperation taken from one book and to create another best seller.
